Final
There Will Never be Absolute Peace within Society
Can the world function without crime? There has always been crime and criminals and it never seems to bother someone until that crime or criminal affects them directly. The penal system is not completely flawed; it does serve its purpose of incarceration. Some people in society cannot function in the world outside of prison bars. Is a world without prisons what we really want? Doctor Dale Fried, a director of the Defense Institute for Neurology at MIT, believes in the use of an electric implant to control the criminal thought process; but it is based too much on chance violating criminal human rights, and will result in millions of people losing their jobs. Propaganda Essay
A Leader Must Win Over the Hearts and Minds to Achieve Total Success
Do you believe the American government will do anything to maintain American superiority over the rest of the world, and our enemies? Do you believe they will lie or mislead the public to achieve this goal? Governments use propaganda to present selective information to large groups of people aimed at influencing their opinion in order to produce a targeted emotion or shape the group’s behavior to their desired intent all the time. Propaganda is present everywhere in the world, even outside of politics. It’s in newspapers and on television. Most people think all propaganda is bad, but Edward Bernays says, in his book Propaganda, “The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society” (Bernays). Propaganda can be used for good, especially since the United States won both world wars and has established itself and the dominate power in the world. Read the rest of this entry »

Rape Essay
Sex without Consent is Just Plain Old Rape
When does sex become rape? Sex develops into rape when the victim does not consent to any type of sex. Consent can follow a very thin line that can turn a mutual sexual act into rape. Men cross this line all the time, and might not even know it. If a woman leads a man on, sexually, that doesn’t mean the male has the right to have sex with the woman, and it will not justify any act of rape. A rapist is responsible for his or her own actions, and becomes a rapist when he or she breaks the consent line, even though actions before the incident may have lead the rapist on. Consent must be established between two individuals to determine if a sexual activity is mutual sex, and not date rape or coercion; Katie Koestner only needed to make one attempt to show her attacker, Peter that she was not consenting to have any kind of sex with him. Belief Essay
There are many reasons why the Los Angeles Dodgers are underachieving and why I will not spend anymore money on attending games this season. Many experts predicted them to win the National League West Division and go far in the playoffs this year, but two weeks into June they are struggling for offense and 6 games out of first place. As a long time follower of the Dodgers I would blame their lack of success on the inconsistent play of the young players, lack of leadership from the organizations top spots, and the general manager’s consistent un-intelligent use of organizational money.
The obvious problem with the Dodgers is no consistency at any part of the lineup. They struggle to score runs, their starting pitchers fail to pitch deep into games, and certain defensive positions expose weaknesses. Some will point out that there are so many young players all around the diamond. Many fans are stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to the youth movement. Young players develop differently at different rates, and they always go through some inconsistency, due to their lack of experience and the grind of a one-hundred and sixty-two game season at the major league level. Of course the payoff is much greater when developing youth, but the risk is also much greater because they can falter and not live up to their hype. Unlike proven veterans in most cases when you know what kind of play and production you are going to get. Read the rest of this entry »
